Whether you’re forming something new or refining something growing, I’m here to help you bring it into form with intention, structure, and soul.

My Story

Our Story

Bright Raven Farms began with a way of seeing the world that has shaped everything that followed. All living beings, humans, plants, and animals alike, carry life and awareness, and none of us exist outside the systems that support us. When we talk about climate change, food systems, scarcity, or disconnection from land, we are really talking about broken relationships. This farm exists as a response to that break, and as an invitation to remember how interdependent we truly are.

Over time, farming systems have narrowed. Diversity has been replaced with efficiency, and resilience has been traded for uniformity. This is true of crops, and it is true of animals. Heritage breeds like Gulf Coast Native sheep, once common to this region, are disappearing along with the knowledge and culture that surrounded them. Many people living here have never heard of these sheep, despite their deep roots in local history. The same loss shows up in how food is grown and understood. There are people who have never seen a vegetable flower before it fruits, or considered the living animal behind the packaged food in their freezer. These gaps in understanding are not failures of individuals. They are symptoms of systems that separate people from the land that sustains them.

A little more than two years ago, we became stewards of this land. The barn had burned shortly before we arrived. Fences were failing. Pastures were overgrown. What we saw was an opportunity to begin again with intention. This place offered the chance to build a working farm that could hold animals ethically, restore ecosystems, and help people understand their place within a larger living whole. That vision includes heritage livestock, soil-building food systems, forest and wildlife management, wetland protection, and the return of skills that once tied people more closely to land and season.

Animal care is part of this story, but so is what flows from it. Sheep can be shorn, and wool can be processed, dyed, spun, and worked by hand. Willow planted to support wetlands can later be harvested for weaving. Food can be grown in ways that nourish soil and body at the same time. Plants carry medicinal qualities that can be cultivated, studied, and respected. These practices are not nostalgia. They are practical, grounded ways of living within ecological limits while honoring the intelligence of natural systems.

Education is central to this work, and experience is the teacher. The farm is meant to be a place of practice, experimentation, and shared learning. Garden beds become places to test what works and what does not. Workshops become invitations to try, observe, and engage directly rather than simply absorb information. Understanding grows through doing.

Bright Raven Farms is plural because it is larger than one site or one project. It is an idea meant to be shared. A place for celebrating heritage, folk craft, sustainable living, and reciprocity with nature. A place that supports awareness of our role as caretakers within a living system. Our hope is that what takes root here continues outward, carried by people who learn, practice, and bring these values into their own communities.
